After a comprehensive 8 months of study, I concluded the Riuva Readership gender and sexuality study. I used a simple polling system and it was up for about 8 months, since February 2007. Let us look at the results now. I drew a couple of graphs, since graphs are the Spiral Energy of anime blogging, to represent this data.

As you can see easily from this well-crafted graph, the highest proportion is geek males. No surprise there, it’s like saying "The fattest people in the world are Americans". Hail Captain Obvious! But there are several fishy results. I can believe that there are 906 female geeks reading this blog, seriously. But 1314 manly males, 1032 sexy females and most unbelievable of all, 1224 traps?

New Poll: Are You a Male, Female or Geek?

I have received rave feedback about editorials on Otakudom. And through the comments, I note that there are quite a few geeks, both male and female here.

So I would like to find out, are we Male, Female or Geek?

The choices are as follows:

Manly Man. If you vote this, I better see you watch stuff like Last Exile, Ghost in the Shell, Planetes and Capeta or Slam Dunk. If a single of those wretched "moe" shows is found on your hard disk, you PHAIL.
Sexy Female. If you vote this, you are probably a geek male. But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt.
Geek Male. I expect 90% of the votes to be this one. Geek is good.
Geek Female. Geek females are every geek male’s dream. If you vote this, leave a comment here so you can get yourself some hot geek guys.
Trap. Impz’s exclusive choice.

What Type of Reader are You? And Results of Poll

It was a landslide victory for fixed pose figurines, as expected. With their lack of joints and better overall painting, these certainly look better. And looks like more people prefer looks over flexiblity! But personally, while I like fixed posed ones, action figures are always a good buy too, especially the Playarts series which is affordable and very detailed.

Onto the next poll!

This time, the question is "What type of reader are you?" Basically, when reading anime or any other sites, are you the sort that actively engages the siteowner, or perhaps the sort that lurks? This will be a rather interesting poll for me.

Poll: Asym or Sym? and New Poll: Fixed or Poseable Figurines?

So Asym beats Sym.

The margin is pretty close, but I would say that since the average reader of this site is about 15-20, they like cooler stuff. Cool = asymmetrical.

As for the next poll, we shall look at the area of figurines.

Do you like your figurines to be poseable or have a fixed pose?

  • Poseable. I like making them assume different positions for my lewd viewing pleasure.
  • Fixed. I am uncreative.

Poseable? But with ugly joints and subpar paintwork most of the time?

OR

Asymmetry or Symmetry? Dochira no Hou ga Sekushii?

Before this, let’s look a bit at the old poll, as boring as it was. 50% voted for the burning method. Looks like there is one industry profiteering off the download boom eh? Moving on, we have a new poll.

Which is better for you, asymmetrical objects or symmetrical objects? "Dochira no hou ga sekushii" would mean "Which one is sexier?". I just wanted to use the word "chira" in a sentence lol.

Queen of Asymmetry - LAIN. Ok I just wanted to use her pic. Lain rocks.
