Looking at just the title and the first 3-4 minutes of the show, one would be misled into thinking this was just a run of the mill harem. I saw the credit line though, "PRODUCED BY SUNRISE", and I immediately deduced that this was not harem, but instead a Mai-Hime-style action ecchi scifi. Indeed, SwKS is this and more!

First off, the mecha designs are just bloody brilliant. From the civilian use transforming cars, the cutesy servant sentient robos to the fucking fantastic and weirdly named QT-Arms (cutey arms?) which probably serve as the battle robots, the whole episode from start to finish has long-time-no-time awesome animation which brings the already-mentioned amazing designs to life.

A must watch of the season!

The show starts off with some lame arranged marriage thing so often seen in harem, but the main character, Akiha (voiced by Mako, also Ichijou from School Rumble), flees and by some coincidence ends up in an abandoned rogue space colony with a sentient AI named LEOPARD, voiced by the hilarious Fukuyama Jun. Did I mention Akiha comes from a space colony 10 000 years in the future? Yeah so Leopard seems to be either an older version or from some faraway parallel universe or something.

I was expecting something lame like Akiha being transported into modern day Japan where she bumbles her way through ultimately finding romance (shit that sounds like To-Loveru), but looks like SwKS will involve lots of space battles with the coolest mecha designs since … I don’t know, since Eureka seveN?

With such an impactful first episode, I doubt many would not watch this show. Except Impz and the grouchy THAT blogger gang of course, who’ll probably hate it. For having robos and no striped panties.

Looks like this is shaping up to be a great season, with Gintama having a revival, starting a new long arc finally. Asu no Yoichi looks alright as well, though a bit retarded.

Is it sad that I can’t figure out if this post is plain old sarcasm or if you genuinely enjoyed it?

    ditto that, Ivy.

The mecha designs aren’t as cool as you make them to be, and it’s more of a Mai Otome than a Mai HiME.

What’s with the squealy noises? What’s with the retarded girl that goes byun byun byun? What’s with the floating bun?

    Dropped.

Actually I thought Sorakake was a little retarded, but once Leopard appeared that all changed. It might have potential for a decent plot and that is why I will continue to watch it, but this series screams of “MAKE FUN OF ME” the whole while and I just cannot help but take up that offer.

That is of course, assuming you are serious in this post. :p

When I was young, I drew some mecha and all the mecha looked like the QT Arms! So yeah, in other words, it’s like my favourite style, the non humanoid mecha. Ignoring the rest of the show, that’s enough to make me watch it.

The show actually reminds me most of Mai Otome Silfr, which was far better than the other Maiotomes.

Well I do suppose the mecha disigns are unique(the only place I’ve seen quads was Armored Core and thats not even anime).
It seems more of a parody show than an action show though.

Leopard is even better when you realise that’s the voice of Lelouch

Completely agree with your judgements. What’s so great about these hime/otome series is that they’re fast. Things never stop, the story develops at a quick pace. There’re no empty scenes, no long boring speeches, and it looks like scriptwriters never run out of ideas for these countless little jokes which make watching hime/otome series this fun.
If anything, I’d say Otome had more of this - Hime had a slightly more serious story though. But given that we usually have a lot of adventure series and almost nothing to watch with a smile, I’d vote for Otome style.

Do not use any < and > for your own sake. It will end the comment there and then. Also, there is an automatic IQ filter which weeds out comments made by those who accidentally got transported from the stone age.
