The fateful moment has come, that fateful moment which has always been a characteristic of storylines from Key. And this is the third Key story that we’ve seen from the Kyoto Animation studio, but gosh….even knowing what’s coming, the impact still hurts so bad. Nagisa was someone who, because of and despite her character traits, really grows on one to an extent few others do, and perhaps, that is precisely why the moment of tragedy is still every bit as powerful as, if not more so then, the tragic moments of the predecessors of this love story. I have to apologize for this, but I am not really capable of coming up with a coherent writeup now….so I’ll just make do with a dedication, to the darling lady who has grown on all of us who have made it this far, all the way to the bitter end.

CLANNAD ~After Story~, Episode 16. A tribute to the much-loved Okazaki Nagisa.

Ascaloth, out.

Did I disappoint you or let you down?
Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?
‘Cause I saw the end before we’d begun,
Yes I saw you were blinded and I knew I had won.

So I took what’s mine by eternal right.
Took your soul out into the night.
It may be over but it won’t stop there,
I am here for you if you’d only care.

You touched my heart you touched my soul.
You changed my life and all my goals.
And love is blind and that I knew when,
My heart was blinded by you.

I’ve kissed your lips and held your hand.
Shared your dreams and shared your bed.
I know you well, I know your smell.
I’ve been addicted to you.

Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

I am a dreamer and when i wake,
You can’t break my spirit - it’s my dreams you take.
And as you move on, remember me,
Remember us and all we used to be
.

I’ve seen you cry, I’ve seen you smile.
I’ve watched you sleeping for a while.
I’d be the father of your child.
I’d spend a lifetime with you.

I know your fears and you know mine.
We’ve had our doubts but now we’re fine,
And I love you, I swear that’s true.
I cannot live without you.

Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

And I still hold your hand in mine.
In mine when I’m asleep.
And I will bare my soul in time,
When I’m kneeling at your feet.

Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.
Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend.
You have been the one.
You have been the one for me.

I’m so hollow, baby, I’m so hollow.
I’m so, I’m so, I’m so hollow.
I’m so hollow, baby, I’m so hollow.
I’m so, I’m so, I’m so hollow.

Clannad as a series has brought me close to tears more than one time, but this episode was the first that actually made the tears flow. Excellent episode.

I wanna see an AMV of that song with Clannad After Story as content. It definitely fits.
    My reaction… -_- 0_0 ;_; T_T

I was just finished installing *a certain Internet TV application* and I tuned in to the channel that was broadcasting Clannad: After Story at that time.

What a kicker to start off my (soon-to-be) adventures of Clannad. (BTW I did not take the time/effort to do a sitting of the entire Clannad series. Should I be playing the game instead?)

As soon as I tell this to my friend, he immediately blocks me from his IM.

The death of Nagisa is how do i say this… the most gayest thing that the writers could do for Clannad After Story, I am sorry but episode 16 was a horrible episode, it was touching, but it was bull shit.

I actually thinks that the death of nagisa was pretty much a predictable event. No death = no love for Clannad. Somehow anime/stories with such an end stays in our heart longer than those “Happily ever after”.

    How do you say “T_T”

Probably saw this coming from the clannad movie…

Ok. I’ll admit it. I cried. Even though I saw it coming 2~3 episodes ago, I still cried. I think it’s not the case of when or when they do a death scene of a main character. It’s all about how they make it, and Dear God, they pulled out wonderfully. Aside for the ending song, that should have been a “dango” melody without lyrics, and not the usual one, this episode was perfect in every aspect.

I just expect that they don’t make Tomoya some sort of Super-Single-Parent, that works, make food, take cares of his kid, and lives on happily, as if nothing happened. This would surely piss me off. By the looks of the preview it’s not gonna be, but who knows. There’s still 6~8 episodes to go.

Nagisa sure was the perfect character to die. Not that I didn’t like her. On the contrary, I really liked her, and is exactly because of that. She was a character that build in me step by step, and when I realized what they were going to do with her, it all came down in one single massive shock. It was perfect. Predictable but perfect.

Tomoya will not be that kind of father, take it for sure…

I thought they’d do it different from what happened in the movie… so sad they really attached to the story :(

yeah i saw it coming and hoped that it didnt. My eyes did well up. It was great from a dramatic view but it stung me more than i thought it would. For some reason this anime really jerks my emotional strings more than a few others. i just hope tomoya turns out to be better father than his dad and doesnt blame the baby. It was very sad but the pulled it off beautifully. Nice tribute to. Im glad im not the only one effected by it.
