Turns Out the Dark Horse of the Season is…

You know how we tend to write off certain shows based on the premise or other attributes, before we even watch it? For example, 07 Ghost might be the new awesomemest show on Earth but because I think it is gay yaoi shit I won’t watch it much. Some people hate harem etc etc.

A dark horse is one where everyone thought before the start of the season that’ll be trash, but turns out to be addictive and enjoyable. While you all should have your own dark horse penises, I’m going to go with….

Hatsukoi Limited!

Other potential candidates include Souten Koro, Phantom, Queen’s Blade etc, but the HL is really one of the best shows this season. It’s great because it has beautiful character design, really attractive fanservice, sweet youthful nostalgia and did I mention hot girls?

For me, the two main draws are the hot girls who are presented really sexily, unlike stupid loli smut or cartoony sluts, as well as the pleasing nostalgia that arises from the concept of first love. School Rumble was a huge success due to the latter reason as well.

I had no expectations for this show, and even thought poorly of it since the mangaka is the guy who did Ichigo 100%. But I’m looking forward to new episodes every week!

For people who are disappointed with this season, you must be either dumb or greedy because there are quite a few good shows. The much-acclaimed Eden, much-maligned FMA, Dragonball revisited, the excellent 3 Kingdoms spin Souten Koro and plenty others!

I really expected this to be yet another reference to the semi-surprise Suzumiya Haruhi episode.

Hatsukoi Limited was indeed a pleasant surprise. didn’t think it would be that good given how short the manga was.

On the other hand, Queen’s Blade is just as terrible as everyone thought it was, but I’m still watching though to see how low they can go.

    Souten Kouro… It’s good, it’s good. I’m enjoying it a lot.

My vote for dark horse is split between Hatsukoi and Hayate 2. I know Hayate is an established anime, but season 1 fizzled out for me big time. Having season 2 come back with a vengeance has certainly impressed me.

However, the surprise of the season hands down goes to Haruhi. And yes, I am so happy right now!

I haven’t watched HL, having only read the series last year, but at least from what I’ve read in animeblogs, at least the anime didn’t butcher up Kawashita’s other animated work. Like that pathetic excuse of an Ichigo 100% anime. Manga was great, that Ichigo 100%. The anime just… *sighs*

    Dragonball revisited?

Do not use any < and > for your own sake. It will end the comment there and then. Also, there is an automatic IQ filter which weeds out comments made by those who accidentally got transported from the stone age.
