I’m very surprised that they decided to reprint this amazing art book (This art book is first published around 2005). Sharp fans will notice that most of the art works in the book are box arts for Macross Model Kits produced by Hasegawa(Unfortunately, they can’t transform >:). If you didn’t know, the box arts for MG Gundam model kits are also drawn by him. The book also comes with Tenjin Hidetaka’s comments for each and every valkyries but since it’s all in Japanese, I can’t really understand(I’m only of JLPT4 standard).

All the valkyries in the Macross universe are in this book except for Macross 7(It’s so lame that they decided not to include it) and Macross Frontier. There’s also an intereview with Tenjin Hidetaka and Shoji Kawamori too. The only thing I can complain about this book is… IT’S TOO F*%KING EXPENSIVE it’s a bit too pricey(It’s around $80 SGD, I could have just bought that dark saber that tj_han wanted to sell). Seriously, if you are a Macross fan THEN GET THIS BOOK NOW!!!

I shall provide some awesome pictures from the book so you guys will be tempted to buy it :3

YF-19 was the designation given to the still prototype version that was being used in Macross Plus. Later on you start seeing a few production ones in Macross 7 that did get the VF designation but the specific picture there is of the YF-19 (including the color scheme) that was piloted by Isamu from Macross Plus.

Anchen: Thanks for enlightening me, I didn’t watch Macross 7.
Schnider: I forgot to mention, all the pictures except for the first one, don’t belong to me. I refuse to scan the book so I took it from some nice guy who uploaded it to some file sharing site.

    Just to nitpick.

The VF-1J with Strike Pack is actually the VF-1S with Super Pack.

Based on serial number and colour trim you can see it’s roy’s personal craft but more telling are the 4 laser cannons on the head underneath the carriage. VF-1J only has 2.

Super and Strike packs are differentiated by the addition of the large beam cannon replacing one of the two missile launcher pods.

Tenshi_MKII: No problem, knew the answer so just figured I’d leave an answer. Glad you liked the book, the art does look pretty stunning!

Do not use any < and > for your own sake. It will end the comment there and then. Also, there is an automatic IQ filter which weeds out comments made by those who accidentally got transported from the stone age.
