[LianYL] Goodbye Fun Times - Day 1
Popularity: 4% [?] Published by LianYL September 3rd, 2009 in LianYLJuggling packing up of boxes of figurines and learning assembly code is really a tough task to endure. As I packed and coded, I started wondering. Since I’d spent 4 years on this hobby, each of the figurines I’m packing up must hold some special meaning. Therefore, I’ve created this Goodbye Fun Times section to track:
1. My packing and catalogue status
2. Bidding a final farewell to the horde of make-believe playmates

~Thank you Wikipedia. Notice I missed Wave 6’s Grapprap. It was too ugly for my money.
I saw the devil and angel Vol. 1 figures in the BS series a few years back. They were mesmerising, and still are today. I told tjhan I’d use all my National Service allowance to upkeep this collection. I held true to this word all the way till end of my army days. Well until rehashes started to appear.
Back in 2007, I was missing the Butterfly EX Weapon set and had to purchase it while in Japan. Grapprap was on sale too but IT WAS WAY TOO FUGLY.
Konami later announced their online Shinki community, which I was really excited about. Too bad I had no time to actually put together a single Busou Shinki, therefore never bothered to scratch the online ID card. All the cards in the boxes remain intact to this day.
Next up, my Haruhi FIGMA collection. I started this collection a while back because I thought it’d be hilarious to pose them right beside their Max Factory 1/8 scale counterparts. It did provide me with a few cheap laughs. Then it got old. And I’m missing Kyon, along with the 2 green-hair girls. I’d like to thank KyoAni for being one of the reasons I started the whole Haruhi figure collection. I’d also like to thank KyoAni for being the one who terminated my interest in continuing with the collection. Some hardcore fans have called it an epic trolling that only KyoAni can pull off. However, intentional garbage does not change the fact that it’s garbage. Eating shit while complimenting the host for being totally cool enough to serve you shit does not change the fact that you’ve been made into a sewage suction pump. Sewage pumps make tonnes of noises but are filled with shit.
Nendroid Miku. So cute.
Ahhhh, the Eureka Seven model kit collection. I’ve always wanted to complete the set and have it on display. I bought them along with my Tachikoma model kit, which I’d completed last year without painting. Never had enough motivation to heave them out of my closet until now. Only to sell them away. Muahahaha.
The MechaMusume ME109E-3 and Mig-60 figurines were given to me by a really good friend who’s MIA right now. He taught me several useful social skills which I apply to this day. Then he went missing, and only tjhan knows how to contact him now. Sorry I’m selling the gifts you gave me, but I no longer have space for them. Apparently, these figurines are now rather rare and can fetch quite a sizable profit. I wonder how much truth there is to that claim.
Evangelion ReiXAsuka figurine is hot Yuri action. Rather well done for that era. I remember I bought it cheaply during a sale in above mentioned friend’s store.
The stack of Shitajikis is my collection since 2005. Some were bought at the regular price of SGD$6 each while the others came as free gifts in Comptiq magazines. I used to have this huge stack of Comptiq magazines which I’d intended to sell but the Karang Guni man came by while I wasn’t around. The rest is history. The Konata thingy on top of the stack is basically something I got from a Comptiq magazine. It has the Hiragana and Katakana characters on cards with Lucky Star illustrations.
The A2 posters on the right side are some random stuff. The 3 poster boards behind the Shana poster were given to me a long time ago by ODEX when they invited anibloggers over to their company for a discussion. They are of average quality, but somehow, the addition of cardboard boards to the back makes the posters seem much more valuable.
The A2 Shana poster came free when I purchased Ito Noizi’s Ka-En artbook. I remembering pondering over whether I should order it or not until I realised that Windbell was in Japan. I left him a message online and he passed the book to me over some Mid-Autumn Festival gathering mahjong session. On a sidenote, Singapore mahjong is so much more fun than Japanese mahjong. I don’t see why some of the local otakus can go gah-gah over Saki and swear that Japanese mahjong is superior. IN WHICH PART OF THE WORLD DO YOU HAVE MAHJONG TILES THAT SHITS OUT MONEY WHEN THEY EAT EACH OTHER? Made in Singapore. Only.
Well, that’s all for Day 1. More packing will be done tomorrow, so stay tuned for more Goodbye Fun Times and learn history.

Do not use any < and > for your own sake. It will end the comment there and then. Also, there is an automatic IQ filter which weeds out comments made by those who accidentally got transported from the stone age.

So like, if you’re gonna put a ‘hefty’ price tag on that KnK dvd set, can we see how the whole thing looks like? I might be able to pick em up when I go down there for AFA
interested on the asuka shinki. looking forward to its price!
I’m not selling piece by piece, nor set by set. I’m selling my otaku life. Lessons learnt from tjhan’s bazaar is that, a massive auction takes way too much manpower and administration.
In other words, he doesn’t really want to sell. He’s just pretending to!
tsk. we’ve been had.
so selling otaku life but not selling the materials involved in it??? sooo… you gonna give it away to charity or something?
I fully agree with tj_han. You are just pretending. No one with the right mind would want everything! I would like to buy some of your stuff but there is no way I am spending money on a “smelly” shinki action figure…
If you really want to let go, do what densha otoko did. But everthing in a big box and throw them into the Singapore River.
