Top 10 Anime One-Liners! Baka Baka!
Popularity: 26% [?] Published by tj_han August 15th, 2006 in AnimeTo qualify for this hall of fame, a particular line from any anime must fulfil some requirements. It must be be at most one sentence, be said at least five times throughout the series and must please the viewers everytime it’s uttered.
With that, here are my top ten anime one-liners! Note that these are either really cool, funny or awe-inspiring and saying them out loud in public earns you 200 points of RESPECT. Just for interactivity, I left the anime the lines are from and placed it at the bottom of the page. Translations in brackets.
1.Shinjitsu wa itsumo hitotsu! (There is only one truth)
3.Taion desu nya. (It is body temperature, meow)
4. Hazukashii serifu kinshi. (Embarrassing lines are banned.)
5. Gate Open!! (I AM COOL WITH SPECIAL POWERS!)
6. Ecchi nano wa ikenai to omoimasu. (I think ecchi things are bad)
7. Kamehameha! (I fire beams of power from my palms and enemies fry up into bits)
8. Maho! (Literally, MAHO!! or alternatively, MAsaru-san, you are such an assHOle.)
9. Baka baka (stupid stupid)
10. Tsuyokiss (Cool x Sweet)
Other notable mentions include "Bankai!", "Pipirupirupipirupirupi", "Henshin Gattai Go Aquarion!", "Ore wa tenzai da!", "[insert name], [insert name of gundam], hasshin suru!", "Benkyou ni narimashita…", "Materialise!", "Ippen shinde miru?", "Inazuma KICK!", "Uruchai uruchai!", "Sexy commando - Elise no Yuutsu" and "Love and peace". If you can name all the anime these are from, you are either a big nerd or a winner. Ah, make that a big nerd AND a winner.
Intermission picture. See answers below this really cute strip of Yuki.

1.Shinjitsu wa itsumo hitotsu! (There is only one truth)

From Detective Conan, Conan utters this everytime he solves a case. I bet he has never see Noein.
2.Crush, Giant Robo! (Beat him up, big metal machine!)

From the GR epic, useful phrase to have around when surrounded by fierce gangsters. Don’t forget the comma or you’ll be a bad guy.
3.Taion desu nya. (It is body temperature, meow)

This line is from a running joke in the Pani Poni series. The cat god, which resides in vending machines, gives Mesousa a body-temperature drink everytime he tries to buy a cold drink. Mesousa’s life is so tragic, it’s on a scale of KGNE level.
4. Hazukashii serifu kinshi. (Embarrassing lines are banned.)

Aika shuts up the trance-mode Akari with this snappy line. Akari goes off rambling like a poser, drowning in the scenery and sentimentality of Neo-Venezia and Aika prevents the series from becoming rotten cheese. ARIA.
5. Gate Open!! (I AM COOL WITH SPECIAL POWERS!)

6. Ecchi nano wa ikenai to omoimasu. (I think ecchi things are bad)

Mahoro of Mahoromatic is very cute when she says this. After showing us her tits.
7. Kamehameha! (I fire beams of power from my palms and enemies fry up into bits)

How can we miss out the grand-daddy of shounen war cries? "Bankai!", "Rasengan" and "Gomu Gomu no XXX" are the children of this Dragonball signature move.
8. Maho! (Literally, MAHO!! or alternatively, MAsaru-san, you are such an assHOle.)

The biggest reason why Orikasa Fumiko should rule the world. An out-of-this-world level of cuteness. Its alternate meaning is also the funniest joke in Sexy Commando. Maho is more famously from Pani Poni though.
9. Baka baka (stupid stupid)

Is there a more memorable and adorable way of calling everyone an idiot? Hoshino Ruri of Nadesico is the saviour of the first half of this series with this one line.
10. Tsuyokiss (Cool x Sweet)

Finally we have a dark horse. The only line which is actually the title of the show. For those who haven’t watched it, the only reason to is the huge number of eye catches strategically placed thoughout the show, showing one member of the cast in a random setting and outfit, saying "tsuyokiss" in a different way. Some are sexy, some are mature, some are loli and some are just funny. For pure variety of the same line, "tsuyokiss" is the win.
I actually typed this post out twice because the first time round I presed the backj button accidentally and it was all gone. FUCK. Anyway, more suggestions here?

Do not use any < and > for your own sake. It will end the comment there and then. Also, there is an automatic IQ filter which weeds out comments made by those who accidentally got transported from the stone age.

Warning, colourful language ahoy.
Buster… CANNON!
Because blowing shit up never gets old.
Gao.
Amusing to hear on the first run. Fucking tragic in the later episodes and on subsequent viewings.
Sou.
One word that says it all.
Urasai! Urasai! Urasai!
IT BURNS INTO MY MIND!
Skane! I’mneither a big nerd nor a winner so I don’t know some of the above.
What is Sou? Or rather, too many times used in various anime…
Buster cannon is Gunbuster? Or .. Megaman!
Well Gao is simple enough. And is “Urasai” “Urusai” from Shana? Or something else?
“Mada Mada Dane” or “Ore-sama no bigi ni yoina!” - lol obligatory PoT shonen quote
“UGUU~” - now that someone mentiond “Gao”, you can’t forget about that either!!
–
Urusai (x3) is from Shana. I can’t think of much else, too early in the morning, lol.
must be shana…another instance in the resurgence of shana references in recent days…must be the dengeki daioh shana XD
YOUR RESISTANCE ONLY MAKES MY PENIS HARDER
I left out Uguu~ because I wasn’t sure what the Hell the correct spelling was. Buster Cannon is from Megaman. Gao is from Air, otherwise known as the anime that categorises whether you are human or a soulless bastard. Sou is for Nagato Yuki from you-know-what( and if you don’t…) because it really defines her usual silence. Urasai! x3 is Shana from Shakugan no Shana.
Another one, from a series that will soon have a third season.
Starlight… BREAKER!
As I said earlier, blowing shit up never gets old.
The next one might trigger some traumatic memories. I apologise to no one.
Are you going to run away again?
Some more memorable ones( although one is cringe-worthy),
..) I’M NOT JUNK!
..) Da PAPER
..) Draaaagon SLAVE!
..) Oro?
Cheers.
Sou is by YUKI. Lol, ok I would think “…..” is by Yuki. As for Air, I found that utterly boring. But perhaps I should try watching it again.
Btw I think its “URUSAI”..
As for the ones you added, “Are you going to run away again?” now that is tough. So many anime, I can think of Eureka seveN, School Rumble etc.
Junk would be Rozen. Da paper would be ROD, Dragon Slave I don’t have a clue, but ORO is Kenshin.
My turn:
“Koutei desu”.
“Bokegaeru!”
Goes to show how abominable my grasp of Japanese is.
Not a clue on those two, since I tend to remember the English version more than the spoken Japanese( me being a sub-reader and all).
One last one before I head to bed. I really wish I knew the Japanese for it, since it can be interpreted in several ways in English, but I believe the gist of it should be clue enough.
The three of us.
MATERIALIZE MATERIALIZE MATERIALIZE.
Oh you did mention that. How about, “let father hug you” something like that. Tamaki’s lines to Haruhi.
“Bokegaeru!”
Argh why is my comment being eaten away…”Bokegaeru!” is how Natsumi-dono refers to Keroro XD
“Damare, gesu!” - Oskar von Reuentahl (LoGH) My favorite insult ever. :3 I so want to try it once. (It’s along the lines of “Shut up, peasant!”)
This is a bit of a nitpickery but as a Nadesico fan FO LIFE I cannot let it go….
“Baka baka” is actually short for “Baka bakkari.” That’s it!
Good list otherwise. Kind of like “ITS SHOWTIME” better than Giant Robo’s callsign, but it’s all good.
OMO: Hey I didn’t know that! Thanks for the info. Makes sense now. But sadly, too much sense. Now it’s actually.. like a proper sentence. Which is less cool than baka baka.
“All you can” aka “Shoryuken”
Yes, too much street fighter.
Damn I was gonna tear you a new one for messing up “baka bakka” but it looks like omoikane already did…
Ippen shinde miru? is the only one I know. T_T It’s from Jigoku Shoujo~
Ruri always speak in complete sentences…
Funny “MATERIALIZE!” was mentioned and not “Load silver cartridge” :-). Mhh, it didn’t get 10 times, probably.
“Dragon SLAVE” is from Slayers, by the way.
A personal favorite would be “Atashi no shimobe~”. A few others: “Aa, Immelmann da!”, “CHIBI JANEE YO!”, “Chi!”, “Watashi no kawaii ningyou”…
I was going to say a bunch but they’ve all been previously mentioned. However, how could anyone forget “hoe”?
I AM ZENGAR ZOMVOLT, THE SWORD THAT CLEAVES ALL EVIL!
Yes, it’s that easy.
“Darliiiiiiiiing!!!!!!”
-Lum, Urusei Yatsura (just before Ataru is pumped full of giga-Amperes of electrical power)
“But I’m a genius!” (Tensai da no!)
- Miyamoto “Becky” Rebecca, Pani Poni Dash (when the class is being mean to her)
“Ranma you jerk!” (Ranma no baaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkkaaaaaaaa!!!!!)
- Tendo Akane, Ranma Nibunnoichi
“I’m living my youth!” (Seishun arimasu!)
-Kasuga Kyosuke, Kimagure Orange Road
“D!”
- Imadori Kyosuke, School Rumble (referring to a girl’s bust size)
“Sometimes I am a (nurse), sometimes I am (one of Tiger Claw’s minions) but I am really… Cutey Honey!” (the parts in the brackets are variable and change from episode to episode)
-Cutey Honey, all incarnations (Original, Shin, Flash and Re:)
“In the name of the Moon I shall punish you!” (Tsuki no kawatte, oshikiyo!)
-Tsukino Usagi, Bishojo Senshi Sailor Moon
“Gabora!”
- Onsokumaru, Nin-nin ga Shinobuden
“Three Sisters’ Meeting!”
- Michelle, R.OD. the TV
Some memorable one-liners that unfortunately were only uttered once in their respective anime:
“If violence is not solving your problems then you are simply not using enough of it.”
- Katsuragi Misato, Shin Seiki Evangelion
“Akane-chan is really a sweet child, its just that she’s also a violent maniac.”
- Tendo Kasumi, Ranma Nibunnoichi
“The Heavens, the World and the Pager (no, not a typo) have called! Summoning the Ultimate Warrior Maiden! The High School Babe! Jinnai Kazumi, age 16!”
- Jinnai Kazumi, Bakuen Campus Guardress
“Shall I put you out of your misery, Serizawa Akane?”
- Tachibana Rei, Pani Poni Dash
“Why don’t you solve crimes rather than pick up girls?”
- Priscilla S. Asagari, Bubblegum Crisis 2032
“I swear by God and Her Majesty that if you do anything to the Captain I will personally tear you limb from limb!”
- Commander Mardukas, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu!
LOL! Those are great lines Gary. I knew I could count on you, the old fogey, to churn up some ancient ones.
I’d like to take this opportunity to indulge a recently-acquired pet peeve and correct the romanization of the Mahoro quote:
“Ecchi-na no wa ikenai to omoimasu.”
The best part of the first-season Mahoromatic soundtrack album is the five-part “Ecchi-na X…” spoken track (”Pasokon geemu desu ka? Onnanoko ga ippai desu ne! Ecchi-na geemu wa ikenai to omoimasu!”). Closely followed by the three-minute Mahoro cup-noodle timer.
-j
Uh J Greely, other than the hypen I don’t see a difference. And since “ecchi” here is used as a “na-adjective” with the “no” added to make it become a noun, I suppose both are more or less the same. Is there a fixed standard for romanisation?
Nobody teaches romanisation anyway since it’s like a fake Japanese. But in any case, I haven’t heard the Mahoro soundtrack though you make it sound really cute.
There exist people who can’t read kana and kanji, and don’t have a good grasp of particles, but who still want to find out what Some Random Anime Quote means by looking the words up in a dictionary. Not too long ago, I was one of those people, and figuring out Mahoro’s tagline the way it’s usually romanized was annoying. It’s far from the worst example, though: google the lyrics for the Styx song Mr. Roboto, and on most sites you’ll find “mata ah-oo hima de”.
And, sadly, there are still lots of books (including textbooks!) that make extensive use of romanized Japanese, and some of them even make up their own “phonetic” romanizations and whitespace schemes. One regrettably common scheme only adds whitespace after the last particle in a series, mimicking the rhythm of pauses in spoken Japanese (”watashiniwa wakarimasen”). I have an otherwise excellent grammar book whose method seems to be: hyphenate only before san/sama/chan and after dai/o/go, and surround all particles and conjugations of the copula with whitespace except when they follow an adjective; this produces results like “dai-sukini”, “kireida”, and “hanashi tai n desu yo”. And of course, in a 600-page book, they’re not 100% consistent about it…
-j
Oh I see. I never learnt romanji, my Japanese was learnt through Kana so I wouldn’t know. In fact the only romanji I come across is online.
Interesting point you make though about the people not knowing Japanese trying to use a dictionary. I’ll keep that in mind!
Ah, looks like everything was taken already. But I’ll try a few anyway:
“arienaai!!” (ありえな~い!!)
“sore wa… himitsu desu” (それは…秘密です)
“tsuki ni kawatte… ~ oshioki yo!” (月に代わって… ~ おしおきよぅ!)
“hoeee~” (ほえええ~)
“mou hitori no boku” (もう一人のぼく)
“ore no taan! doro!!” (オレのターン! ドロ!!)
“chapapapa~” (ちゃぱぱぱ~)
VERY NOOO ! ! ! !
“jodan ja nai wa yo!” (じょうだんじゃないわよぅ!)
“kaizoku-ou ni… ore wa naru!” (海賊王に…俺はなる!)
… and for the most obvious:
けろけろけろけろ
たまたまたまたま
ぎろぎろぎろぎろ
くるくるくるくる
どろどろどろどろ
…であります!
What is the name of anime numer 5 from top 10 ??
you had to translate “Crush, Giant Robo!”
lol
Dragon Slave is from the anime Slayers by Lina Inverse, the flatchested dragon slayar that sorta reminded me of the powers from Dragon ball…heck their techniques sound the same(the sound effects anyway)
Orewa Himitsu Desu was from Xellos of Slayers too…used to say that to annoy my friends before he pummeled me with his mallet of doom.
“WHAT A HAUL WHAT A HAUL!” from Happosai - Ranma 1/2
“I will not run away, I will not run away” (Famous lines from Shinji in Evangelion)
“Watashi wa Ninja janai…nin nin”(Yeah…and your teacher’s a 10 year old magician…oops)
“Wo Ai Ni!”(love you too Shampoo!)
“NYO!!”(See, Nya bellow)
“I choose you [Insert name]”(usually followed by a name of a pokemon)
“TENMA-CHAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!”(Harima, no one says her name like you do)
Add these in your daily conversation ^_^:
“Ororo?”(Kenshi!)
“Ara…”(Ah…the famous quote from Kasumi)
“Nya~”(See, Nyo above)
“Desu ne”(A cute way of saying ‘afirmative’)
“Hai~”(YESSSSSSSS In a cute way)
“Souka…”(Is that so/I see)
“Hmph, Homoshire!”(Interesting)
AHA wow this is an old thing to reply but anywaysss I just found everything sooo funny…
“Pipirupirupipirupirupi!” I know this one xD its uhmmm Beating Angel Dokuro-chan… if I’m not mistaken ;P This is the one I found funniest. The Tsuyokiss one is probably one of my favorites too
ORE NO TURN! (Yuugiou Duel Monsters)
And as a response to “Kudake, Giant Robo..!”
“Big O, Showtime!”
Are you sure it’s “Maho” and not “Ahou?” “Ahou” means idiot. “Mahou” means magic.
I also think “Hoeeee” should be up there somewhere hahaha Sakura.
