As the title says, I am back from the 5 days of enforced holiday in the island archipelago of Indonesia. Turns out it wasn’t a rainforest but more like igneous rock terraced subsistence agricultural highland. The climate was really unbearable, with searing heat in the day and biting chill at night. And worst of all, there was no internet.

Well it wasn’t all that bad. The past 5 days was a bit of an anime de-tox and I barely thought of the dirty A-word at all until the final night as I whipped out the laptop for a good 8 episode marathon of 12 Kingdoms. Incidentally, this attracted a mini-horde of about six entertainment-hungry guys crowding behind me making "hey this is just like Curious Play (Fushigi Yuugi in layman terms)!" grunting noises. I did spot a fellow anime expert though, who also stakes out at Sunshine Plaza and has watched 12 Kingdoms four times. Pointed him to this site but as of this moment, he is still out there in the wilderness while I was lucky enough to get an early flight home.

But my bioclock is quite screwed up now. Normally, I lead the "sleep is for the weak" lifestyle of minimal shuteye to maximise animetime but there was really nothing to do and the temperatures were so shitty that to speed up the passing of time, sleep was all I did when not working. Probably led the American way of life for a while. Lazy fools!

While I cannot say much about why and what I did because I am actually secret agent a la Zaizen Joutaro, I used a Nikon D70 and D100 for the past few days with mixed results. Of course, the photo skills have leveled up somewhat thanks to taking so many pictures. I mentioned bringing a figurine along which I did not because of common sense, but I did bring the Laughing Man.

Just look at the pictures! I acccidentally resized them at rather low jpg quality on this computer though.

I was expecting bare mud so this nice luxurious bed was almost as good as Last Exile.

If it wasn’t fallow farmland, it was secondary forest unlike Juu Oh Sei’ Chimera.

The sun sets at about 5 pm. We think this is really early.

That partitioned little room is the bathroom. Hey, I was expecting to dig a hole so it’s great already.

I tried my hand at using a wide angle lens but got my focus wrong so the Laughing Man is a bit blurred.

Likewise for this. Whenever I had time, I’ll hang up the LM for a shoot.

The standard architecture of the area: would Takemoto care to do some renovation? This is one of the better houses.

I like this picture. I took a lot of little girl shots too but they didn’t turn out well.

That isn’t my hand but point of advice: do not extend fingers to hungry goat.

I think Lenneth cosplaying as Kino would’ve liked to use this as a backdrop.

Life without internet must suck.

Sharp, jagged, igneous (Ignis!) rock was used to build mini-terraces to prevent soil erosion on the sloped land. It’s painful to sit on them.

Laughing Man on papaya tree. I wonder how many here do not know what a papaya is?

I touched down back here today and quickly headed to the post office to collect my freshly-arrived figurines. Then it was torrent time as I caught up with the missed downloads. Shockingly, a mere five days yielded almost 30 torrents, such is the number of shows I follow. Figurine and football news followed swiftly. It seems I have got to splash the cash on Maj Kusanagi 1/7, Megahouse’s Tachikoma, the School Rumble pillow cases and a few other goodies. But what is the use of pillow cases without pillows? Does anyone know where to get the dakimakura? On the sporting side, I missed the Champions League unfortunately. And then it was clearing the backlog of fellow bloggers’ posts - I just skimmed through these as most were irrelevant due to lateness. Man you just can’t miss the internet!

But one thing I noticed - all the comments left on this site over the past 5 days were mostly fangirlish ones on the Ouran and Gakuen Alice posts. Damn I hate fangirls, or rather, only those who support one particular pairing, totally blind to the progression of other matches and murderous towards the fans of other couples.

Another thing, Neohybrid Kai who is from Indonesia: I only spent 3 hours in transit from Jakarta and most of my time was spent in the rural areas. There are certainly no anime fans there! Not when there is only one internet cafe in the nearest town 2 hours away by car and with a excruciatingly slow connection.

Onto the goods I received. I got ebcraft’s totally in-demand Saber and the mega-cute Melissa pumpkin girl. But best of all, the 1500 yen Sega biker Rei turned out to be not Rei-faced as expected, but a step in the evolution of the figurine industry! She’s got soft soft bouncy supple tits!! Will make a video of this when I do her review. I spent a good 5 minutes trying to prise the nipples out of her jacket to no avail.

And these were shipped almost 1 month AFTER Dark Saber and the Ichigo Mashimaro waitress girls. Those have yet to arrive! Lost! OMG!!

Finally, I got a new camera - the Canon Ixus 800 IS. Traded in an old broken Powershot A70 to get a 100 dollar discount. While it still is a long way off from the desired dSLR, I hope to now take better pictures.

Hi, I’ve been reading this blog for a couple of months now but I’ve never left a comment because uh. Shy. I like figurines, so I love looking at the photos here.

But what caught my eye was when you mentioned the Ouran fangirls. I’ve been an Ouran fan before the anime aired, and while I am a fangirl, I disliked those kind of fangirls too. “My OTP > your OTP” “I think so-and-so are perfect for each other and the series should end with this pairing” etc. Admittedly, I am a slasher, so I don’t mind any kinds of pairings from het to yaoi. So it annoys me when fans of one pairing belittles fans of other pairings. Woo, I hope it won’t turn into those GSD (which I know you don’t like XD) fandom pairing fights. “XYZ should die because she gets into my OTP! So and so is a slut!11!”

But that aside, is this part of your NS? My brother went to Taiwan during his NS days.

Oh girls are always welcome to leave comments. Haha. But seriously, “fangirls” is just an easy phrase to use, guys are just as guilty. See the “School Rumble sucks because Harima is dating Eri instead of Yakumo” type of fan boy.

And yeah it is part of my NS, though I do a rather unique job in the army.

yea, internet connection only available in big cities here (that’s why when I’m on vacation to my parent’s village I went into haibane mode, lol), and its not very fast either.
Anyway, I’m waiting for your Rei figurine review. I’ve read about it on akibablog that it got sold out quickly ^^

Do not use any < and > for your own sake. It will end the comment there and then. Also, there is an automatic IQ filter which weeds out comments made by those who accidentally got transported from the stone age.
