I have a freakin huge dilemma. No it does not concern anything life-threatening, career-ending or whatnot but the decision is huge on a monetary basis.

Should I get the beautiful School Rumble pillow cases or not?? And should I get both?? But if I get any, I would want to display them too!!  LOL. Ah, the big decisions Man has to make.

Now inaccurate information has been spreading about the pillowcases because of the ambiguous nature of the pictures. I should clarify here that School Uniform is on one side and Yukata/gown is on the other side of the same pillow, they are not different pillows. There are three versions: Tenma, Yakumo and Eri. Obviously there will be a huge surplus of lil’ Tenma.

Each pillow case is a shocking 9000 yen, For that price you would expect like.. silk! But no, it’s all 100% polyester. The pillows themselves are a cool 5000 yen and the lining and stuffing are both 100% polyester as well. Dimensions would be a human-size 150 x 52 cm.

So we do the math: Yakumo + Eri + 2 x Pillow + Shipping = 30 000 yen(but let’s assume shipping is a lowly 2000 yen) = 403 SGD

Wat??? And what if Cospa releases an Akira or Itoko!!  This is why life would be good if money wasn’t restricted.

To understand what 30 000 yen is, with that amount, I can buy 1 Mahoro Bike and 1 Perfect Piece Tachikoma and still be left be enough cash to eat a premium steak at some fancy steakhouse. Not that I would because "eat is for the weak". Or alternatively, a YF-19 PLUS 1 Tachikoma! Or some other Macross Valkyrie (I am actually waiting for the SV-51).But you can’t hug these!

Just when I thought purchases were dying down… they were, except their individual prices just shot up drastically. Notice how the stuff reported on this site are at least 6-7000 yen these days, with a few going into five digits.

I assume that the question now is not about the mecha but whether or not to spend the SGD400?…

Why not minus the pillow x 2, cutting away about 10 000 yen…

Then if you still want to display the cases, hang them up with a clothesline and a couple of pegs, or rather four, so it’ll all be upright…

Ok, at least that’s what I’ll do, although I wouldn’t have that much money to spend in the first place…

Personally I find fabric products hard to maintain. Eventually you would have to send it for washing or dry cleaning and who knows what detrimental effects that would have on the images after a few rounds.

Just 2 cents from someone who doesn’t do laundry XD

Yeah the mecha I will get regardless of anything. But the point is, I see way too many people who just buy pillow cases and hang them up or stow them away. What’s the point? If I want to spend that much, I might as well make the most of it and HUG it.

If I only wanted to display I would buy posters. Anyway I preordered these two cases already but have yet to order the pillows. I’ll be looking around to see if I can find any 150 x 52 cm pillows locally haha.

you can try using 2x bolsters, or something of the like.

I’m not a guy, so I won’t be hugging pillows with Eri or Yakumo on them. =p

On the other hand, those mechs from Macross make me drool…

403 SGD for Yakumo and Eri?!? Assuming that you get the right shape body pillows locally, it’s still 18000 yen for both.
Owwww…… for that price I had both of them to step out of the screen and let me do whatever I wanted! Given that it seems cheaply made (eg. polyester) makes me think it’s not worth it… And they are little short.

You might as well get 1:1 scale nanoha and Fate. XD

Personally I would rather get a life-size poster. I like my stuff to be pristine if I can help it. XD

You want my advice? I say buy them first, and regret later.

Unfortunately, the Nanoha pillowcases are Comiket 70 limited edition. As far as I know, they’re not making any more of them. You can still find them at K-books in Akihabara though, but at the price of 31,500 Yen a piece. Alternatively, you can wait a few more years until the price drops to the original one.

TJ, I really wanna get those pillows too. Those 2 are like my hot favourite. I also MIGHT get an extra pillow by itself just to let the loli Konomi pillow case I got some time ago to go over it. =X

    See this?

Come March, I am going to be spending $1050 of my hard earned NSF allowance on this big boy (580,000 yen). Is it worth it to me? Yes, it is. I’m a big fan of the SRW:OG line. At the end of the day, it all boils down to the person and how much he/she needs/wants it in his life.

Lol BB you are certified psycho.

I guess the time to spend is now, since as an NSF you don’t have financial commitments or even much social life and the money is yours. Next year when university begins, I doubt I can buy stuff anymore.

Well, my social life may get worse. I may be going to France on the frigate for a three month cruise. Three months with the same 80 people.

The worst part is that I may can’t get the stuff I want while I’m away.

  15. 15 RDrake 69 comments

Hmm, ok, so you WANT the pillows…

Try making them yourself, see if you can save anything that way. I don’t see how some fabric, stuffing, thread and a needle can be more expensive than 10k yen…

Ooh, those Veritech Fighters are nice.

As for me, well, while I usually don’t buy these things, I’d, erm, hold off on buying for a bit.

    Then again, it’s just me.

I would personally hold out on them until the release date.
New and more intresting merchandise will definately appear and you might really reget spending that amount when you could have gotten that new ‘thing’ instead.
Don’t need to be hasty with money, think carefully, and have patience.

Do not use any < and > for your own sake. It will end the comment there and then. Also, there is an automatic IQ filter which weeds out comments made by those who accidentally got transported from the stone age.
