No Matter How Bad Your Show is, It’s Great as Long as There is BLUSHING

Loading ...Have you ever felt your heart flutter the moment some anime chick has patches of pink on her cheek? Then you are one of the countless victims of the uber-imba gimmick - the blush. Specifically targeted at socially-inept individuals who cannot grasp real-life behavioural clues, the blush tricks these misfits into thinking that they are able to understand the psyche of a girl, particularly whether she’s in love or not.
Sceptical? This is the whole basis that Ichigo Mashimaro, Happiness and Megadere Mamoru are built on. These shows, especially the first two, employ an advanced technique called the "Eternal Blush". No matter what the occasion is, all characters without Y chromosomes will have massive blood accumulation beneath their eyes. And this works completely! While the Ichimaro also has great jokes, Happiness is an example of a show that is completely dependant on the blush. Megadere Mamoru is a good example of an exception - it’s still bullshit even with blushing.
To highlight the power of blushing I bring you these examples. See if you can name the show and girl. I bet you can’t for all.

The artificial blush looks like crap; not appropriately applied for some pics, obvious oval-shaped blushing has an element of comedy. Some are totally wrong because you didn’t choose good screenshot to use.
Decent pics: 1, 3, 13, 15, 19 and 24.
Melissa Mao’s pic is missing something, probably would be good with a tagline.
LOL PWNED because 24 is a raw picture! Anyway these aren’t pieces of art. I did it in 5 minutes in total. And i randomly grabbed episodes, scanned through it for a face shot of a random chick. But yeah, the first one of Karen was my experimental piece where I tried different colours and brushes.

I actually thought some of the blushes DID in fact add a different feeling than what normally would be portrayed. It’s actually kind of funny to think how a blush can change practically everything that we think might be going through the character’s head, or their intentions. Interesting if you ask me.

But I agree with blushing. I draw all the time, and I feel like my pictures lack if my girls aren’t blushing. So I really understand the artists who bring us series like Happiness and why they need to add in blushing for each character all the time (female that is). I’d do the same afteral.
