Figure News: Happy Haruhi in Lingerie
Published by tj_han November 14th, 2006We all know Happiness is one of the top tier shows this season. I’m currently getting the game right now and looking forward to playing it. The cutest girl out of all the cute girls in the series would naturally be Kamisaka Haruhi, a Yamato Nadeshiko type chara with the unbeatably cute Eternal Blush.
I think I posted news of this before but more details have since come in. This 1/8 scale PVC figure of Haruhi, by Toys Planning (them of the naughty products), will cost 6300 yen and be released at the end of the month (November 2006). The sculpt is by Zenko, the dude who did that ugly Natsuki cold-cast I reviewed earlier last month.
Why the 6300 yen highway robbery price for a 1/8? Their excuse is, there are interchangeable head and body parts for Haruhi. Her face comes in either serious mode or horny grimacing wink mode. Her torso also comes in two forms - the glamorous windswept magical gown and a tattered bra-revealing version of it.
Haruhi is thrusting her metallic trumpetwand like how you would a lance. Her reclining posture and backblown clothes suggests a strong recoil from the force of the magic. Her hairstyle is a cool asymmetrical, shoulder-length one with plenty of little details like a brooch, ribbons, hairclips and side-plait.
Honestly, I hate these option parts. These will normally have a few seconds of novelty value and then be stuffed back into the box for all eternity. And for these few seconds of variety, we are stuck with the many drawbacks such a mechanism brings. The headseam will be especially pronounced, since you have to pull out the fringe for the face to be fitted onto the neck. Which leads to a very pronounced chin and neck line, that makes the face look more like a mask from lower angles. When parts are changed too many times, the wear and tear softens the plastic and sometimes causes distortions.
Haruhi’s skirt is removable, like most modern figures. She’s wearing some fancy underwear which actually matches her pink bra, which was clearly shown in the CGs.
Now the crucial question is, do I get her or not? Let’s weigh up the cases for and against. Haruhi is hot, has a great pose and nice costume. But it’s expensive, comes with needless parts and has a bit of a weird face.
Ok I’ll buy. Since she is hot and my favourite Happiness character.

Aaw, I like this figure a lot. Haruhi has a NICE BODY!
Now the question you should ask yourself is, if they released a Jun figure, would you buy it? I know a few friends who would, lol.
great looking figure.. but I wouldn’t buy it for the pain and torture they put me through watching the first episode.

Nice pose but I keep thinking that she’s using a spear instead of the trumpet. She looks like she’s trying to thrust at someone. Maybe a whole row of her can form a phalanx! Hehe.
