This is the period of time when many anime series end. The numerous quality 26 parters from the spring season, the not-so-quality 13 parters of the summer season etc.

Having seen so many ends and with more to come, it’s quite an emotional period for me because I almost always cry at well-done endings. I just saw Tokyo Majin season 2 episode 9 and it was one of the more epic final battles I’ve seen. I know Odex has licensed and is actually preparing this series for sale, so I’m surely going to get the DVDs for both seasons.

Part of the reason it’s so good is the soundtrack and OPs/ED. Rock music is always most effective in pumping up viewers’ adrenaline levels.

As I’ve said many times in the past, Tokyo Majin is like a Buddhist, darker and more gory version of Gatekeepers with just as much burning aura in it. I strongly recommend the series to anyone who likes action, inspiration and cool people. People say that it’s extremely difficult for a video game to be converted into an anime, and yeah that is true, but that just shows how awesome both Tokyo Majin and Gatekeepers are (both being video game adaptations).

Anyway, it is such anime that makes me like anime, not sissy shit like Kanon or whatever.

How come not much people are raving about this awesome series? Maybe it’s the lack of subs. I notice I’m always raving about stuff that are not available as subs. When most of the shows I’m watching end, I’ll probably be left with just a handful to follow, considering how the upcoming season seems to have only a couple of good ones as well.

But as we all know, previews are never accurate. Before the actual series started, I’ve never heard of Oofuri, Baccano, Shigurui, Tokyo Majin and many others as well.

Other notes:

Kaze no Stigma ended like Pumpkin Scissors, completely leaving the villain unscathed, so season 2 can be expected.
History’s Strongest Disciple Kenichi looks like it is ending as well, probably changed a lot from the manga. The final battle with Odin has been rather nonsensical and the series has been losing steam gradually like most shounen.
Claymore has been fucked up ever since the anime veered away from the source material. I need to read the manga.
I dropped Heroic Age, Bokurano, Seirei no Moribito, Gigantic Formula and others but I should be marathoning them in the near future.

What a totally trollish title to this post, what do you really expect your visitors to say to something like that?

In any case, Tokyo Majin never worked for me, it just looked like some sort of incoherent mess (yes, that is probably being a bit mean, but this blog seems to like hyperbole). Still, what I saw of it is far better than a lot of the shounen out there. As for Claymore, since it looks like it’s only having the one season, it seems sensible to close up the ending even if that means rewriting it, rather than leaving it open which would really make the season as a whole seem pointless. I know it might come as a bit of a shock, a studio actually wanting there to be an “end” to their shounen series, instead of just having the indefinite middle that most others have, but that’s that, and hardly warrants saying that it’s “fucked up”.

i agree with what you said about claymore…
it kinda lost its awesomeness once they showed more of raki, especially since it wasn’t part of the manga…
they could have followed the manga and ended it nicely, imo…
i guess i’ll just wait for more of the manga so that i can experience more claymore awesomeness…

For a show with as great source material as Claymore, they could’ve finished up one season and then waited. Just like Hunter x Hunter and many other shounen series. I can’t believe you would prefer having a screwed up ending just to to finish things off.

Tokyo Majin is rather incoherent, and hard to understand upon first viewing. Although not as messy as Baccano or even Shigurui, I strangely like all 3. Maybe the messiness is a good thing. Kissdum is awesomely messy as well.

You are a retard, Anon, I must say you chose your name well. It’s common knowledge that Claymore sucks ass now, but for some reason most of the bloggers that I’ve read tend to like it. I’m glad to find at least one who isn’t completely tasteless.

And “sissy shit” is not nearly enough to describe most of the videogame based anime. Every season there’s a bunch of pathetic dating-sims (and visual novels that are not quite dating sims but have the same vibe anyways) that get adapted, and there’s always losers ready to watch them and maybe even buy pillows with the girls on it. They are worse than furries, infecting everything they touch, trying to convert normal anime watchers to their wrong ways, and rewarding the studios for shitty works instead of encouraging the quality. To the fire with them, I say.

By the way, I started watching Bokurano and dropped it after 4 or 5 episodes. As an adaptation it’s worse than Claymore (it’s Gonzo we are talking about). I’d recommend reading the manga instead.

Aye, Claymore lost its pace somewhat once it veered from the manga. It was awesome until then. If the anime followed the manga and stopped with the Northern Expedition, the ending would leave most viewers with a wtf feeling, coz basically……. nah, not going to spoil it for you, go read the manga.

I have to agree that claymore the anime is pretty screwed up now. It is quite obvious they were trying to squeeze everything into 26 epis. The manga had more of a story arc as it leaves possible plot twist later on. (Only read till 7 years after the battle)

Yes yes, unless it’s like the second deathnote OP…. There’s a lot of stuff that can be considered “rock”, and there are always that try to escape definition, so I don’t think it applies to all rock songs.

I’ve been reading this blog from the start and all your comments seems to amuse me ^^.

I actually agree on Claymore going down the hill but I can’t say it totally “sucks.” And actually I would like to comment on Sesma about dating sims and the likes. People watch what they want to watch, and it’s actually their choice and preference to do so and it’s not right for you to judge them as being “sissy.” I watch a variety of anime, genres ranging from gory, violent anime like Shigurui to those simple slice-of-life anime like Aria and each has their own pros and cons that one may like and another may not.

Tokyo Maijin is actually a good anime though I have to agree that it seems to confuse me sometimes.

To comment on Loba, Heroic Age does remind you of GSD due to the artwork but I assure you, its WAY damn better. I for one skipped this series thinking it would come out the same as GSD but I was wrong, really wrong ^^. So I suggest you look into it til before judging.

Tokyo Majin has a worse storyline than the Aizen arc 2 in Bleach… Seriously, Bleach’s plot is predictable and has a million plotholes, but at least it’s coherent and somewhat easy to follow… not like this crap where the directors probably pulled random crap out of their ass

The ending of Tokyo Majin (episode 24) is absolutely retarded, and they spend the next two episodes doing stupid flashbacks/random crap.

Do not use any < and > for your own sake. It will end the comment there and then. Also, there is an automatic IQ filter which weeds out comments made by those who accidentally got transported from the stone age.
